Libre
Libre is a contradiction you can wear. Launched in 2019 under creative direction by Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo for Yves Saint Laurent, it opens with the clarity of mandarin orange and a whisper of black currant — tart, present, unhesitant — before surrendering to a heart of orange blossom, jasmine, and orchid that blooms slowly, as if the scent is in no hurry to arrive.
The base is where Libre earns its name. Madagascar vanilla and musky cedar settle into an ambergris foundation that radiates warmth without softness, freedom without recklessness. The lavender note — unusual here, placed in the top — acts as a bridge between feminine florals and something more structural, giving the composition an unexpected precision.
A Floral Fougère that occupies its space with intention. Wear it when the occasion asks for presence, not performance.
